1) HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORKS?
Hypnosis works with the power of your mind.
About 90% of our actions, behaviors and decisions are made subconsciously. We can say that if there was a game of power, the conscious mind owns 10% of the shares and the subconscious mind owns the other 90%. It is of no surprise that habits, beliefs, and patterns of behaviors repeat themselves repeatedly in various situations. They are embedded in the 90% of the mind and we act upon them almost unconsciously. Without changing the subconscious way of being, it becomes almost impossible to change our thinking patterns, actions, and patterns of behaviors. Hypnosis works directly with the subconscious mind to change behaviors, attitudes and thinking patterns. Therefore, the effect of hypnosis to stop dis-empowering and harming behaviors have long lasting benefits. Hypnosis works hand in hand with the power of the subconscious mind.

Hypnosis is not dangerous!
Hypnosis IS NOT intended to be dangerous. It is a technique that will make you feel like if you were in a day-dreaming state. On that note, let’s remember our self-protective mechanism. NO HYPNOTHERAPIST can make you do what you don’t want to do.
Hypnosis uses the power of suggestion for positive change only and has no side effects.
There are various methods that a well-trained hypnotherapist uses to create a safe environment. For example, the language he or she uses and his or her understanding of how to work with abreactions among others.
As a well-trained hypnotherapist, I know how to use the language of the subconscious mind. Such language is always phrased in a positive way. For example, sentences such as “You will not fail“ and “You will succeed at any endeavor you set yourself to do” are not taken in the same way by the subconscious mind. As a well-trained hypnotherapist, I understand the difference in the language and use the language in a way that the subconscious mind understands.
Abreaction is also another issue to be aware of. Abreaction is a re-triggering of a memory of a trauma. There are different intensities to an abreaction. A well-trained hypnotherapist is aware of that and knows how to state the suggestion to help reframe that memory. Reframing is another term in hypnosis which is a technique used to shift your mindset so you're able to look at a situation, person, or relationship from a slightly different perspective.
Hypnosis isn’t for everyone
Hypnosis is not for everyone. It is NEITHER AN ALTERNATIVE to consult a medical doctor or a psychotherapist. HYPNOSIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED if a person has been diagnosed with a mental health problem such as schizophrenia, hallucinations, or any other mental health issue. Hypnosis requires medical referrals for physical issues such as obesity, medical depression, or pain control.
The only time needed is the time needed to break the chain of created habits.
As hypnotherapist, I must consider different factors, including the issue at hand. I must
understand and consider your learning pattern and your receptiveness to accept the right suggestion, your openness, and your resistance to change.
We Are Creatures of Habit
To help answer the question on the number of sessions needed to see changes, we need to talk about the time needed to create a new habit. Generally, it takes between 21 and 40 days to create a new habit. This means that a minimum of one session per week for six consecutive weeks would allow to achieve better and long-lasting results.
Some Issues Are More Stubborn Than Others
We all have a defense mechanism that protects us. Most of us are comfortable in our old habits, even when those habits are disempowering for us. Some issues have lived with us for many years and have become a part of our personality and define who we are.
Suggestibility
Each one of us intake information in different ways. We learn in different ways. This is known as suggestibility in hypnosis. It refers to the speed at which the mind of an individual is open to take in suggestions. This means that to help you better, I must first understand the way you learn and intake information before guiding you into your path to success. In addition to understanding your learning patterns, I must match the language I use when I speak to you.
Set Yourself for Success:
To also help answer the question on the number of sessions needed to see changes, first and foremost, you need to know what you want to achieve. NOT EVERYONE COMES TO THERAPY WITH THE INTENTION OF SUCCEEDING. Some have lived far too long with their issues and problems and may not even be aware of them. ASK YOURSELF: What is my goal? What do I want to accomplish? These questions are the most important ones.
Do you want to lose 20, 30 pounds? Do you want to overcome the fear to stand in front of a group of people and deliver an amazing speech? Do you just need guiding into getting a clear direction in your life? The time to accomplish either one of these goals may be different for each person.
Hypnosis Can Make You Feel So Good! You Can do it Every Week for Years.
The frequency of being hypnotized is more a question of preference, of the issue to be resolved and of other variables. As far as frequency goes, it depends on every person. As a rule of thumb, it usually takes six consecutive weeks to create a new habit. Again, this is simply a recommendation.
Hypnosis is known to work in a speedy way
There are immediate effects in hypnotherapy. Such effects can manifest themselves in many ways. For example, if you are hypnotized to deal with anxiety, the byproduct of hypnosis is that you may sleep much better throughout the night, which will allow you to wake up fully rested and with a brighter perspective of life.

Did you know that we all are natural hypnotists? All of us go in and out of hypnosis every day. This is called environmental hypnosis. As a matter of facts, the best time to put ourselves into hypnosis is right before going to sleep and right upon awakening as these are the times when we are the most suggestible. If you give yourself a suggestion right at that precise time, you will bring it into your dreams and into your subconscious mind. So don’t watch horror movies before going to bed as you will take that into your dreams.

Have you ever immersed yourself into a movie and felt the actor’s feeling of love and feeling of pain as if they were your own feelings? If yes, then you have gone into a state of hypnosis. So, are we all hypnotist? Yes, but...
When deciding to do self-hypnosis it is recommended to let the professionals do the job for many reasons.
FIRST, a professional hypnotherapist understands the language of the mind.
SECOND, we all have a blind spot when it comes to recognizing our own flaws or mistakes. A professional hypnotherapist understands how to bypass that blind spot.
THIRD, any behavior that is to be removed needs a replacement, and a professional hypnotherapist knows how to best reframe it and replace disempowering behaviors.
FOURTH, we have defense mechanisms with the best intentions to protect us, but do they really protect us? A professional hypnotherapist understands that mechanism and knows how to work around it.
FIFTH, even if we want to change, we can be overcome with fear. Fear is a powerful emotion, and it can freeze us. Often, fear doesn’t allow us to create the change we want. As fear manifests itself in our attempt to succeed, we fail instead. We are afraid of the power to succeed, we are afraid of discovering our own inner strength, and we are afraid of discovering our own power. Therefore, we choose to live in mediocrity. And the list continues.
